NOTHING BUT NET

VS.

For anyone who knows Bre, knows Bre can be very passionate about certain things in her life. Most notably her sports teams, first and foremost the UTAH JAZZ! Since residing on the east side of the U.S. Bre haphazardly has become secluded away from being a faithful and supportive Jazz fanatic. Like any long distant relationship, they have grown apart, no more daily sports reports, KJAZZ, Hot Rod Hunley on KFAN, nor all the local news and print features about the Jazz.

So when their East Coast road trip came about, Bre ventured off to none other than New Jersey to see her Jazz!?! There are copious events in life in which Bre is fashionably late for, but sporting events is not one of them! Never has she yet to miss a tip off, a first pitch nor a kick off. So when they hit traffic and arrived 10 minutes before tip off, Bre proceeded to jump out of the car once it passed the stadium, not wanting to make the time and journey to the distant parking garage. Once inside, she embarked on scoping out other adoring Jazz fanatics and greet with high fives and "go Jazz"/player shout outs!

It was a great game, she will spare you the play by play analyis. The jist of it was comprised of the Nets immature flamboyant street ball a so called show manship of dunks and alley-oops vs Jerry Sloan's simple pass and shoot offense. Don't even get her started on the defense, but she will admit they got us on offense boards.

Half time was comprised of a bathroom break, stadium exploring, contemplation upon $3 candy and adamant searching for Jay-Z and Beyonce. The rapper owns the Nets and is moving them to Brooklyn. Most of all half time is known for taunting the opposing team, for Bre this comprised the whole stadium. She managed to begin debating with a myraid of 12 year olds, sneak past the ushers to go down to the floor, butt her way to the front of the concession line and then proclaim it as a JAZZ FAN ONLY line, and of course last but not least score some Net fans numbers (which was hastily thrown away, she is not a traitor).

4th quarter and tired from the previous nights blow out win against the Celtics (who possess the best record), the Jazz were faultering and the lead was dwindling. She became disarrayed and began sparring with the Net fans next to her and then with her own group of friends! Insisting they let her be as Bre tried to channel all the good energy into the Jazz to win, to make that shot, to grab that rebound! When all else fails call upon a higher source/bigger fanatic...her bro Kurt (who is fully resposible for Bre's die hard fanatic ways)! It is a given fact that Bre and Kurt can make the Jazz win, by way of mulitple tedious renditions (all too sacred to share publicly). She was fervently texting him about how to resolve this particular situation, him exclaiming the magic can't be used on the Nets and that the playoffs are in a month!

She had to get the chee herself, so concentrating immensely hard with a serious stone cold face focusing on the matter at hand, amid the heckling and laughing. No matter, Bre was confident and was envisioning her won bets of free dinner and shaving his head, and most of all parading her D-Will jersey around after the game. This all came to a hault when Memo's rushed three rolled off the rim. $%^$#&!!!!!!

This brings about another point in a fanaticism....poor sports! She and her brother possess the worst form of caricature.....crying, swearing, throwing, yelling, hitting. It's been known in their childhood and various times now that they have missed school a select few times because of a bad loss causing a depression not to get out of bed.
So the journey home consisted of Bre sulking against the window in the backseat brooding over the plays in her head, if he would have made that shot or passed it to him or got fouled. Once it was EZ-pass'ed back into Connecticut Bre was able to muster up a civilized conversation with no mention of any basketball pronouns. Just when she was over the devastating loss and pondering that all was going to be swell in Jazz land, it was her turn to drive. Where she then got pulled over....ah damn Nets!

*3rd person was used not by way of conceit but to conceal and excuse absurd and ridiculous antics/behavior

"I GAVE UP SPICE GIRLS FOR YOU!"

This statement is inevitably to be the deterioration of my current fling...correction, "relationship". About a month ago, I had the opportunity and chance of a lifetime to see The Spice Girls in concert at Madison Square Garden. I had come across this concert around Thanksgiving time and February seemed like a lifetime away to spice up my life. No need to purchase the tickets because my fabulous friend, Kelsey, would be able to score us some freebies. It was just one of her perks from being a nanny for an MTV executive. So after 3 lengthy highly anticipated months, and bragging non stop to my incredibly jealous sisters, President's Day weekend finally arrived. It was time to spice up my life!
But of course, there was a glitch in the situation, the MTV executive could only acquire 2 tickets. Kelsey had to choose whose dreams to crush Bre or Kylee. Naturally I already had SPICE DAY planned out and had memorized both cds, so not being one who easily succumbs to glitches, I was very annoyed! Why did she even have to mediate upon the participant? It was a no brainer....choose BRE! They both know I HEART Posh Spice and her husband DB! I had the "posh" hair cut, even the Rock & Republic VB jeans, and was reading her book, 'That extra half inch'! I even watched and supported the first and only episode of "Beckhams coming to America". Come on, I was a shoe in, pick me! Not only that but I was the one that discovered and suggested the concert in the first place. Of course, not making any of these points known because I'm so sweet, I merely stated to Kelsey, "Whoever and whatever you want, I'm cool". Jargon for "Not! Whatever, you better pick me if you want to keep one of your only two friends here!" Afraid this would be the ruination to our tightly threesome friendship, the decision making process came down to drawing out of a hat!
Meanwhile, I had been once again debating with my current fling about when he was able to jot me in to his work-aholic schedule. The plan was to go out after the concert being that he lives in the city and I in the country, we have to act on every opportunity to see one another. So I was very astonished and amazed when the busy stock broker decided to take Monday off to spend the whole day in the city with me! He even had our itnerary ready to email for my approval.
So being the indecisive person that I am, I looked at the situation logically and tried to make a mature concise decision. I had a 50/50 chance of seeing my name pulled from the hat, whereas there was a 100% chance of spending a blissful day in the city with stockbroker boy. Though he found it completely ridiculous and absurd that my attention was vying between him and Posh Spice. He also assured me we could listen to Spice Girls AND go shopping, if that might persuade me....okay I was sold! I maturely declined the inclination to become a 13 year old again and rock out, I let Kylee's dream come true. It made a little more sense, since she was in fact flying back early from Florida for the blessed event.
Unfortunately for me, my blissful day in the city came to a hault when I was informed stockbroker boy indeed had/needed/wanted to work that day! I then irratically stated into the phone, "what? I GAVE UP SPICE GIRLS FOR YOU!" and then hung up, there went my maturity. Although, the guilty statement must have got to him as I awoke to a 6am wake up call to come into the city. And 6 snoozing hours later we did end up having a blissful day in the city, with the exception of my 13 year old abilities at the end. Here he proceeded to drive me to the train station exceptionally early, early enough I could have made it to the concert. Early enough I didn't even fathom to look up these times of departure, I was shooting for the 1, 2 am train back to Connecticut. Not so, I was flabbergasted and dumb stricken all the way to Grand Central, where I finally mustered up the ability to chuck a yo-yo at him, grab my bags, and yell "I GAVE UP SPICE GIRLS FOR YOU!", and then slammed the door.
Ever since this blessed event, stockbroker boy has met my every whim and all I have to say is...

"Hey, remember how I gave up Spice Girls for you?"

106 A. RICHARDS HALL

BYU ALUMNI FRESHMEN CO-EDS
(minus Elle, Jen, & of course Maurianne)

I love a good blast from the past memory every now and then, most noteably BYU ones. I enjoy the occasional trip to the Cougareat for a scoreboard grill and salad wrap, the ringing of the bells and BYU baseball. Though, I do not enjoy memories of my first B and the whole alphabet to follow, including the notorious E! Nor do I want to recall the frigid walks up to campus and back in the dark, or the elluded testing center, the gestapo, and of course the freshmen (sophmore-junior-senior) fifteen!
My most favorite BYU occasion albeit is the sporadic dinner dates with the old roomates from....106 A.Richards Hall. A semi-occasional gathering where we conjure up memories of 1 o'clock lunchs at the Eyring, Periodical "study" sessions/mate selection, road trips, and of course all of our "has beens". Throughout our rollercoaster ride of guys we meticulously organized and kept track by way of nick names. There are a plethora of labels that made the list and at any mention can make us drop to the floor with laughter. Yummy dave, gay pete, bryn-shrimp, dave fine tingey guy, sung, blockbuster jeremy boy, periodical boy, bevis, ansels overalls, the boone boys, just to name a few. So I was glad I was able squeeze in a dinner during my trip to Utah at Chiji's or Chili's (I always thought it was spelled with a 'J' because of that dang chili on the sign- ha yes I managed to graduate from BYU). Anyways, I've concluded we've managed to stay best friends, keep our looks, and last of all maintain our witty sense of humor....somethings never change.

AUNTIE BRE BRE

I am finally an AUNT! Alexia Rae Heaton was born on January 1, 2008. Unfortunately, I have been MIA living on the east coast thereby omitted from all the hype and hoopla! So after an extremely sullen phone call with my mother concerning my absence in Alexia's life, I confirmed to rack up another 12 points on my JetBlue frequent flyer. Alexia needed to know Aunt Bre was much more than an invisible Santa Claus frequently sending gifts in the mail.

I love being an aunt to the most adorable baby girl in the world! Not only do I regard only myself on major shopping excursions but now Alexia as well. But I do find it hard to surmise that for something so small that the price tag would be so great! I don't like being upstaged in my duds, especially when her outfit begins to cost more than mine. She already has racked up quite a shoe collection. Though, despite her fathers rugged wishes, I have introduced her into the world of designer duds, outfitting her with Tommy, Ralph Lauren, Juicy, Calvin, Guess, and many more to come! Haha, hey she's not my kid, and that's what aunts do...spoil them rotten and then give them back!

I'M A BAG LADY!

MY LOVER

This fabulous Betsey Johnson carry on has been one of my latest obsessions for the past 5 months! I have been religiously watching this bag at TJMaxx waiting for an even further markdown from the steep so called clearanced price tag! I'm guilty of meticulously visiting every week, putting it over my shoulder and prancing over to the mirror for a cute visual. After giving it some love and a pat, I surreptitiously maneuver a fortress of homely and unsightly luggage around my glamorous carryall. 5 months later Betsey still sits in the same place with the same price, no other fashionista has yet to snatch her up. So out of empathy, love and pure selfishness, in an attempt to validate myself from materialistic things, I finally made the big purchase! Not a moment too soon as I make my journey back to Utah for the week, I will do it in style! I'm convinced Betsey can fit/hold everything I need for the trip as I attempt to pack just one carry on for my journey. Haha wish me luck. But now I'm seriously considering she needs a buddy for the trip, the new pink Ipod would be a great match!

MY LOVE
It was like love at first sight the moment I stepped into H&M on a cold January afternoon. It had just emerged from the backroom and I was the first to snatch it up not blinking an eye at the price tag. I still don't recall the precise charge but JLo says love don't cost a thing. It's my baby and goes everywhere with me, even if it doesn't match, now that's love!

AN EYE FOR A ...DYE!

So every now and then I like to get daring and cheap....and heaven forbid spontaneous! My short butch hair is the result of these lastest endevours, and even then my spontaneity took 6 months to kick in. Nonetheless with these elements in mind and prepping for a Saturday night fling to the city, I decided once again to mimic Rihanna's sassy tresses! Though not wanting to spend a weeks worth of "hard work/sleeping in" on a coloring procedure that was easy enough to accomplish from a $20 box, I opted for the next best gimmick....Paul Mitchell phase 2. For those not lucky enough to witness such a bargain buster, bust being the operative word- and in this case no reference to mine, Phase 2 is strictly reserved for completed cosmetology students logging their final hours of service.

So how challenging could it seriously be to transform brown to black and touch up a blonde highlight? Well after 5 hours of extreme torture and a cat fight, I'm pretty sure I in no way resembled the priceless look of Rihanna but more like a $54 imposter. And this is how it went down....

I was definately relieved my hairdresser Meg* was cute and had good hair. It's all important that your stylist fits the part, their head is like a secret magic eight ball you can look into and decifer the outcome. If they look good, you'll look good. But as we all know magic eight balls are wrong from time to time, though I'm still crossing my fingers to marry Micah Fielder. Unfortunately my fortune at the end read..."OUTLOOK NOT SO GOOD".

I certainly didn't need a magic eight ball to see all the warning signs from Meg! Meg has a problem with bleach, Meg and bleach don't mix, Meg obviously missed the lecture on bleach, nor did she read the chapter! But apparently Bre and bleach mix, we are tight, now this doesn't suprise me being that I have made my debut as a blonde before. Nonetheless, I ended up with bleach first off on my phone, whatever I need a new one anyways, it then proceeded to fall upon my magazine blocking cosmo's 6 ways to train your boyfriend article! That's it I became annoyed and even more so after I discovered easter egg like speckles all over the arms of my once teal shirt. I then began a series of deep breaths mastering/controlling my anger management until I felt a burning pain upon my chunky cheek, no not from the chair but from the bleach that had fallen on my face! I quickly called Shann to side track my revengeful mentality but all she proceeded to hear from me was, "AHHHHHHH YOU GOT BLEACH IN MY EYE!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAH!" followed by a high five from the hardwood as my phone smashed to the floor. I wailed in pain like I had been shot....in the eye with bleach! I was momentarily blind and panick striken as I tried to figure out which pair of Dior sunglasses I was going to wear for the rest of my life to cover my glass eye!

After flushing my eye out with a gallon or two of water, it was safe to say I wouldn't be coordinating a white cane with any of my outfits any time soon. I then proceeded to envision myself in England as I heard all the fancy explicitives from my hair dressers mouth. My favorite was "I f***ed up!" Yes, yes you did. The night couldn't end any better as I began a seriously heated debate with a 40 year old woman with blue eyeshadow. She tried to charge me extra for the additional toner that was used because of the additional time added on to the bleach when it proceeded to get into my eye and also for the extra chemical shine she added to my hair, without my knowledge nor consent! The matter was finally resolved when I proceeded to yell that I would not be returning anytime soon or ever to see her blue eyeshadow for an extra 40 bones!

Though I must say Meg gets points for being truely creative by covering up my blood shot bleached eye with my bangs. Those points were soon nixed when I realized I wouldn't be staring into anyones eyes that night! And she will foot the bill for my glass eye and new Dior sunglasses, despite her little waver form and blue eyeshadowed gate keeper!
